Did you know that 8 in 10 people enter a business based on its signage? Think about it the next time you are out of town. Which places are you more likely to enter? Which ones never get a second glance?

Signage is important. It says a lot about who you are as a company. It’s the first impression people have of your company and can either turn people off or get them excited to come in.
Do you remember how frustrating it was to visit a company for the first time only to drive back and forth on the same road looking for the sign that shows you have arrived? Maybe you had to drive right up to the door to find the name neatly written in little letters on the door. Maybe it was on a small sign, but it was positioned behind a bush or some other larger sign. It may have been a great company, but without the proper signage, you entered frustrated and turned off before you ever met the people or saw the products. It tinted your perception from the start, didn’t it?
The next time you drive up to your business, take a look at your signage with the eyes of a new visitor. Is it large enough to see from the road? If someone were new to the city, would they be able to find you? Are there bushes or trees covering parts of your sign? When you get to the door, does it show your hours of operation? Can you see the hours of operation from your car or do you have to get out and walk up to the door?
If you have signage issues, consider adding that to your marketing plan for this coming year. Compare the number of customers from Less Than Adequate Signage years to Awesome Signage years. Chances are you will see a significant increase.
Happy marketing!
